Summary, etc. En esta obra se sostiene que la globalización puede ser la fuerza benéfica que enriquezca a todos, especialmente a los más necesitados, pero siempre y cuando nos replanteemos el modo en que ha sido gestionada. El proceso orientado por el FMI y las organizaciones internacionales ha causado un sufrimiento excesivo a los países en desarrollo. La fuerte reacción contra la globalización tiene sus raíces no sólo en los perjuicios ocasionados a éstos sino también en las desigualdades del sistema comercial mundial. Los gobiernos deben y pueden adoptar políticas que orienten el crecimiento de modo equitativo y que reflejen un sentimiento básico de decencia y justicia social.
