Summary, etc. En Colombia existen alrededor de catorce millones de predios registrados en los catastros, lo que nos da una idea de la relevancia y el impacto del Impuesto Predial. Este gravamen causa, además, una especial sensibilidad en la población. Lo anterior se aprecia fácilmente cuando una norma incrementa las tarifas, o cuando el Catastro realiza su labor de actualización del valor de lo predios.<br/>En la obra se presenta un breve relato sobre los antecedentes históricos del Impuesto Predial y su evolución en el país, se analizan los diversos sistemas para su determinación (facturación, autoavalúo y mixto)y los elementos que componen el impuesto (sujetos pasivos, hecho generador, base gravable, tarifas, etc.) desde una perspectiva de la legislación nacional. También se presentan algunas reflexiones e inquietudes sobre la estructura del tributo en general y su futuro. Finalmente se incluye un anexo de las más importantes disposiciones del orden nocional de los últimos 20 años.
