| Summary, etc. | Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar llamado también "el Cid Campeador", fue el héroe de la reconquista hispánica del territorio peninsular dominado por el poderío y la cultura musulmanes. De él dicen las crónicas, "que siendo un simple caballero, se hizo por el solo valor del brazo" , el mayor hombre del mundo que el señor tuviese". En el cantar que lleva su nombre, se presenta el Campeador como el prototipo del honor castellano. Sus hechos idealizados por la poesía juglaresca, lo hacen símbolo para el pueblo que escucha entre versos la historia de aquel que "llora como los hombres y vence como los héroes". |
