Summary, etc. Al acercarse el fin de este milenio, los colombianos, su clase dirigente y el Estado mismo no pueden sentirse libres de culpa sobre lo sucedido en el sector rural. Los problemas de pobreza, violencia, concentración de la propiedad y destrucción de los recursos naturales; el uso irracional del suelo, el agotamiento de las fuentes de agua en las vertientes y su contaminación en las zonas planas; el permanente éxodo rural sin un sustento en un desarrollo industrial dinámico; la minifundización, el fracaso de la reforma agraria, la debilidad del Ministerio de Agricultura y el creciente desasociego social, unido a las dificultades que tienen los productores para competir en el mercado, son algunos de los temas que preocupan a un país lleno de vitalidad y ansias de desarrollo y de cambio.
