Summary, etc. ...La discusión importante no es sobre si hay daño ambiental o no, sino más bien sobre cómo sacar partido de las situaciones actuales para remediar y prevenir daños ambientales y pérdidas de recursos, buscando alcanzar situaciones de desarrollo deseables, equitativas y seguras. A la luz de las hipótesis planteadas, este trabajo contempla facetas ambientales, económicas, políticas y sociales con el ánimo de explorar opciones viables para la sociedad colombiana. Con respecto al medio ambiente y a los recursos naturales, se trata de presentar las potencialidades de la oferta ambiental de modo que, al mostrar algunos problemas, se vean las opciones económicas, sociales y ambientales que todos estamos desaprovechando.
